That is why it is the perfect time to take our motorhomes for a spin and start enjoying nature. As a consequence, today we bring you our top 5 spots to enjoy some of the most beautiful landscapes and Natural Parks in Spain. So start packing, because with the “Semana Santa” approaching us, you have the perfect opportunity for a little getaway!

Natural Park of Lago de Sanabria (Zamora)

To kick start our list we have decided to choose the Natural Park of Sanabria, the province of Zamora. In our opinion, spring is the perfect time of the year to visit it, since the snow has mostly disappeared, and the temperatures still mild. When visiting the Park, one cannot miss the “Centro de Interpretación del Parque Natural” in San Martín de Castañeda. Since this is the perfect location for touring the lagunes of “Los Peces” and  “de las Yeguas”. If you had enough nature for the day, you cannot leave the regions, without checking out the little village of Puebla de Sanabria, which with its perfectly preserved architecture can be considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain.

When visiting the zone you can make use of the parking of Puebla de Sanabria, which is perfect for those of you who want to stay in the town. However, you should have in mind, that the parking does not have water change services.

If you need more services, the Camping of Sierra de La Culebra is a great alternative, since it allows you to visit the Lake, as well as the Natural Reserve of “Lagunas de Villafáfila and Arribes del Duero”. Additionally, you should keep in mind that their rates vary depending on the season.

Ricote and Cieza Valley (Murcia)

Did you know that this was the last Moorish redoubt in Spanish Levante? If not, now you can understand why the Ricote and Cieza Valley is more commonly known as the Moorish Valley. However, and putting aside its rich heritage, its landscape full of fruit trees becomes the main attraction during springtime. So if you love nature and outdoor sports, this place is perfect for you since it combines the beauty of spring with incredible weather all year round.

When enjoying the region, the motorhome area of Ricote, is a great option. It is a free parking area with a total of 30 spots, the maximum stay is 48 hours, and is located 100 meters from the city of Ricote.

Las Merindades (Burgos)

Continuing with our journey, we again move to the north of Spain, more exactly to the province of Burgos. The region has everything from mountains, lakes, waterfalls, … However, today we want to talk to you about “Las Merindades”. When visiting this part of Burgos, we especially recommend checking out the waterfall of “Pedrosa de Tobalina” which is considered as one of the seven wonders of Burgos Province. Additionally, and as an interesting fact, the Velasco last name is original from this part of Spain.

One option for visiting this side of Spain is making use of the area of Las Cocinas in the locality of Espinosa de Los Monteros. The parking is free and is half an hour from Las Merindades. Additionally, if you finally decide to stay here you can visit the village.

Natural Park of Lagunas de Ruidera (Ciudad Real)

Now going a little bit more to the south in the province of Ciudad Real we find one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Spain. We are talking about the Natural Park of Lagunas de Ruidera, and spring is the best season for visiting this oasis of vegetation and water located in the middle of La Mancha. You can start your visit in the village of Ruidera, since it is where the visitors center is located, and here you can find all the relevant information regarding the park. Putting aside the natural wonders of the park, you cannot leave the regions without exploring the castle of Peñarroya, as well as the cave of Montesinos which if you have read the Quijote, may recognize it as the place where Cervantes made Don Quijote spend a night.

A great alternative for discovering this part of Castilla La Mancha is the Ossa area in the Camping of Montesinos. Which has a total of 70 plots.

Natural Park of Somiedo (Asturias)

Last but definitely not least, we have a favorite of ours. The Natural Park of Somiedo, in Asturias. Maybe we are a little bit bias, but what can we say about this piece of nature located in the middle of the Asturian mountains. One of the hallmarks of this natural landscape is the itinerary that starts in the village of Pola de Somiedo, and goes all the way to the lake of “El Valle”.  Additionally, you should not miss the routes that go up to the “brañas” (mountain areas for pasture), in here you will be able to see the typical “teito” cabins that were used in the past as a refuge for the local shepherds.

For visiting Somiedo, you can make use of the Camping La Pomarada de Somiedo, which is perfectly located in Pola de Somiedo, and has a fee of 9.9 €

Another option is staying in the motorhome area of Teverga, which has a total of 25 spots and it’s free. This area is located approximately 1 hour away from Somiedo, but it offers the possibility of enjoying the route of “La Senda del Oso” and visiting the village which in 2013 was declared “Pueblo Ejemplar (an award given to those villages in Asturias that stood out in the defense and conservation of its natural, historical, and cultural heritage).
