Spring has finally arrived and since it looks like we are going to be able to start traveling again (always with some precautions and restrictions). We must keep an eye on the maintenance and general condition of our vehicles, not only because of safety reasons but also because by doing so we can extend its useful life. Therefore, today we bring you some key maintenance tips to keep your motorhome brand new.
BATTERY
As you know winters can wreak havoc on our vehicles, especially if they are parked outside. That is why we always recommend checking out the battery charge before any trip. For sure you will avoid any nasty surprises.
BREAK DISCS
When exposed to low temperatures and high humidity, they can crystallize. Which can harm the capacity of the vehicle to brake in an emergency. As a result of this, we recommend checking the brakes every 15,000/20,000 kilometers.
AIR FILTERS
When we store our motorhomes in a garage for a long period (like this year), or the pollen is starting. It is extremely important to check to air filters of the vehicle, especially if you are traveling with any allergic. Because by making sure everything works, you and your family will be able to travel with better air quality.
Since you are already checking the air filters, we recommend doing a small cleaning of the air conditioner, since it can easily catch any bad odors or accumulate dust over time.
ROOF SEALS AND SEAMS
If you have stored your motorhome indoors you might have not noticed any possible open seams. So, it is important to check all the little cracks and crannies of your motorhome before starting any trip, because no one wants a leaky roof. We recommend checking at least, the rood’s edges, vents, skylights, and air conditioning.
HEADLIGHTS
One of the most important parts of your motorhome when it comes to safety. So before starting any trip everyone should make sure that all of them are not only properly working, but also correctly aligned. If you are handy enough you can align them yourself, if you are interested in this Popular Mechanics has a great article on how to do it yourself.
To wrap things up, if you apply these maintenance tips, we guarantee you that the life span of your motorhome is going to skyrocket.
